FlavorFolk was started in 2005 by like-minded restauranteurs to provide memorable and value-for-money culinary experiences to the discerning guest.
We currently operate six restaurants (franchise and our own brand), across the city of Bangalore. We specialize in Indian and South-East Asian cuisine.
Our franchise experience ranges from delivering end-to-end solutions – concept development, market research, feasibility study, project development, technical assistance, marketing and sales – to turning around unprofitable restaurants.

Our ability to take ownership, be transparent, and adapt to the flavor and style of any brand, helps us build deep business relationships that last for years. Chung Wah is one of Bangalore’s oldest and most loved Chinese restaurants. What started as a standalone restaurant in the 1980’s, has grown into 17 outlets today with all but a few outlets run by members of the family.
Revered for its authentic Chinese flavors and simple, elegant interiors, Chung Wah has earned a place in every Bangalorean’s heart. Taking on the franchise of such a well-known, highly-valued brand, was a daunting task.
Today, FlavorFolk runs five of the 17 Chung Wah outlets. Our restaurants capture the essence of the Chung Wah brand, and also raise the bar for excellence and customer experience. As an example, our restaurant in Kalyan Nagar is the first outlet to offer the traditional Chinese Hot Pot, a popular choice among diners. Our ability to stay true to the brand, and yet deliver a better customer experience has held us in good stead with the owners and managers of this predominantly family-owned business.
Our own brand Santrupti has its legacy in a family-owned, South Indian tiffin styled restaurant that opened in the 1970’s and was tailored to suit the local palate and wallet. The restaurant was a resounding success, prompting us to open Santrupti in a high profile location in Bangalore.
Dramatic interiors, exceptional taste, high-quality service and high-perceived value, are all characteristics of our restaurant. Locals come in for a quick bite to eat and food that tastes ‘just like mother makes it’. Fresh, healthy, nutritious and tasty, that’s how our patrons describe the food served at Santrupti.
Ponnusamy is a popular, family-run traditional restaurant that has been in business for over 55 years. Ponnusamy started out as a single unit establishment in Royapettah, Chennai, and has become one of the most sort-after restaurants in India today. Renowned for its unique flavor and high quality standards, the Ponnusamy Group operates over 12 restaurants and 8 canteens in Asia and the Middle East.
FlavorFolk operated Ponnusamy outlets in Bangalore from 2005 to 2011. We were the only franchisee outside of family-operated outlets, and the only franchisee in Bangalore. In the years of our engagement with the Ponnusamy Group, we opened four outlets for Ponnusamy in Bangalore city (on Residency Road, Koramangala, Frazer Town and Forum Mall).
FlavorFolk was started in 2005 when a chance meeting and a shared passion for food brought entrepreneurs Kailash Gupta, Mayur Hoskote and U.K. Krishnamurthy into partnership.
Kailash chalks up over 10 years of hospitality experience and has operated over 5 restaurants in Bangalore. Kailash started his career in the IT sector, and spent many years there before deciding to focus on his lifelong passion – food. Kailash got into the hospitality business in 2005 and has remained in the industry ever since.

Food is Mayur’s first love and remains so to this day. A career in anything else was unimaginable. Mayur has over 18 years of experience in setting up and running successful restaurants in Bangalore. To date, Mayur has setup and run 5 restaurants in Bangalore.

Murthy is a second-generation restaurateur. He has 23 years of experience managing restaurants, often setting them up from scratch. He has worked closely with reputed interior designers to design, plan and has managed over 6 restaurants.
